Carpentry Assessment
Living through the harsh winters in New England, exterior painting often reveals needed carpentry repairs. As a part of the preliminary consultation, our Hubley representative will walk the perimeter of your home noting some areas of concern and measuring to determine painting costs.
No one likes to receive news of additional costs during a home project which is why, when the estimate is received, our team will likely suggest you get a complete carpentry assessment before commencing your painting project.
What is a carpentry assessment?
In a carpentry assessment, our carpentry team performs a thorough investigation of your home’s exterior. They will take an up-close look at the wood around the roofline where damage is often present as well as around the second floor windows and eaves. The area closer to the ground will also be carefully inspected. The carpenters will mark with blue tape any rotted/damaged area and photograph each spot so you can clearly see where we have identified needed repair. You will receive a detailed report with all recommended carpentry work, photos of the damaged area and the materials needed to address each issue. The cost for labor and materials will also be clearly listed in the report.
What is the value of the carpentry assessment?
Painting your home is a significant project and learning about additional costs during the project can be frustrating. Hubley wants to provide you with as much information as possible before the project begins so that we can be a trusted partner in helping you keep your home beautiful. The best way we can do this is allowing you to see each issue and weigh the cost and value of the recommended repair. This allows you to understand the total cost of your project.
Why do you charge for the assessment?
To ensure you get the most value out of our assessment, our carpenters spend several hours at your home identifying the issues and assembling the report. Whether or not you decide to use Hubley for your project, this assessment provides you with insight about what needs to be done to keep your home in good shape.
